install of updateconnection; SUNWswupcl doesn't exist

Seems a bit odd that we are patching a pkg that isn't installed. What's up with that? Is this a real error or ?

Not an error, just an informational message. Depending on your Solaris platform, SUNWswupcl may or may not exist. Had it existed it would have been patched. Doesn't exist so nothing was done.-Dave

I'd have to beg to differ, the patch it was referring to is one of the two installed. (119574-01, then 119107-01)As I said, it's patching a pkg that doesn't exist. Unzip updateconnection-sparc.zip and you will see it only contains these patches (no packages) weird at best.

I know which patch you are refering to. Specifically 119107-01. And I stand by what I say, it will patch SUNWswupcl if it exists on your system. It doesn't exist on your system and therefore you got the information msg telling you so. It never actually tried to patch that package because that package is not installed. From the output you posted, everything looks correct. This is

the expected behavior.

yeah, I guess it's just the wording of the message that's odd. Not worded very well.

The wording seems fine to me. The concern I have, is the SUNWswupcl package actually required for correct operation of updateConnection or can this informational message be in fact safely ignored?

Thanks.

Ben.
