Sun update Connection via Internet HTTP Proxy

I don't have direct access to the internet. All of my internet fraffic has to flow through an internet proxy...Typically HTTP://<ip>:8000.I am not able to configure the Sun Update Connection application to access the Sun update Servers via our internet proxy server.. Is there support for users of this product to be able to access the patches and updates via a web proxy? If so, how do you configure this function?

You should be able to specify your proxy via the Preferences in the Update Manager. Is it that you have attempted to set the proxy in the preferences and the settings failed, or is it that you did not know where to set the proxy preferences?

If the proxy settings failed was there any error reported?

Thanks in advance.

I'm getting the same problem. Sun Update Manager "Configure Network Settings" doesn't contact the proxy server. this happens whether the system proxy is set or not, and I don't see any errors.

There is a bug in the proxy authentication code and only anonymous proxies are allowed with the Preview Release of the code. This proxy issues has been fixed and will be part of the next release.

makes sense. I was snooping the traffic, and the response from the proxy was "HTTP/1.0 407 Proxy Authentication Required". Thanks for the update.
