uninstalled patch does no show up in Available patch

I used update manager to install all available paches to my solaris 10 sparc system.

I used update manager to backout a few patches. I'm now expecting to have those paches listed in the "AVAILABLE UPDATE" list, which is not the case ?

I even went to SUN CONNECTION and removed /readded the system, I then ran again the CHECK FOR UPDATES , no patch listed as AVAILABLE !!

Do I miss something here ?

Unfortunately I don't think I've seen this issue before so I doubt I'll solve it in one go. A few things to consider:

1) Do the patches in question require special handling - like a restart prior to installation completion?

2) Are the patches in question still listed as installed in the Update Manager (under the rightmost tab)?

3) For the patchid's in question, does "smpatch analyze" from a command line as root recommend them?

4) I'm not entirely clear on what you mean when you say

"I even went to SUN CONNECTION and removed /readded the system" Are you talking about managing the systems via the web interface, or some other action?

Thanks in advance for any information I can use to assist you.

1) No - For example I used patch 118711-01

2) No - They do not appear anymore

3) No - smpatch analyze does not report anything

4) I went to SUN Web site were I had my system registered - From there I removed it and re-registered it ( to start on with a clean status) - Did not change anything to my problem !!

Also this is the output of patchsvr setup -l :

Patch source URL: https://getupdates.sun.com/solaris/

Cache Location: /var/sadm/spool/patchsvr

Web proxy host name:

Web proxy port number: 8080

Its likely that what you are seeing is a problem in production

that occurred recently. The patch database file, from which

the update connection determines available packages was found

to be corrupted and is therefore showing zero available patches.

We are remedying this problem as soon as possible.

thanks

The patch database file was updated. This should allow your systems to show the removed patches in the available patches list.Frederic
