Update Manager not connecting

Hello,

I have installed the Sun Update Manager and when I start the program I get the following error:

Error: Unable to download document: "collection/default"

Cannot connect to retrieve collection/default: Server returned HTTP response code: 403 for URL: https://getupdates.sun.com/solaris

I am a sun employee and am trying this internally. I have tried multiple different proxy servers as well as using no proxy server with no luck.

Note: that your particular scenario only affects internal Sun employees who registered their systems using the first UpdateManager packages that were posted last week.

Customers external to Sun wont have quite the same scenario.

Since you are an internal sun employee, your system

was registered against an internal sun database. The 403

error code is indicating that you are not entitled to get the

patch collection (and this is because you were registered against

the wrong backend database).

You will need to uninstall the old packages per the uninstall script

provided to the forum and reinstall the new packages. You

may need to remove your "asset id" so that you will be able to

register again. This can be done as root and the following

command: /usr/lib/cc-ccr/bin/ccr -r cns.assetid

You should then be able to launch UpdateManager, re-register

and then continue normally.

I am not internal to Sun and all I get is a 403 error. Also if I try to check off the box for a box on the updates.sun.com website, it won't work either. It stays greyed out! Please help as I have very limited time to test this..

Hi,

The 403 error has been logged as bug ID 6303392

The host must be properly registered with the portal.

Can you post a copy of the registration file located in /tmp. The file is pretty verbose and may help.

# cd /tmp

# ls
