Sun Update Connection not installed in upgrade

When I upgraded from Solaris 9 to 10, Sun Update Connection did not get installed. Since there are not bundled recommended and security patch clusters for Solaris 10 on the sunsolve site as there are for Solaris 9 (at least I cannot find any), it seems that unless you want to do alot of manual work poking around sunsolve looking for patches you must use the sun update connection tool. So it would be nice if an upgrade would automatically install this new tool.

Anyway, I'm now upgraded to 10 and I need to install the tool. I could download the "preview" edition from sun and install, or I could poke around the DVD trying to find all the relevant packages and install form there. http://www.sun.com/service/sunupdate/faq.html question number 8 seems to imply that there is some difference between the preview release and that contained on the install DVD - i.e. the version on the install DVD will work for with containers and the preview release will not. Is this true? If there is no difference then I can just install the preview release and be done with it. Otherwise, can somebody tell me what packages I should go back and install off the install DVD?

Thanks.

Thank Kayo. I will do what you suggest.

We are not currently using local zones, but if in the future we do, how should we retrieve and apply patches?
