Java Desktop Gnome Panel error

I am running Solaris 10 and Java Desktop 3 on a SunBlade 1500. This was an upgrade installation from Solaris 9. I ran Gnome on Solaris 9.

When I right click on the Gnome Panel and select Properties, I get the error:

"The Application "gnome-panel" has quit unexpectedly."

When I click Close the panel goes away and restarts. Other operations of the Gnome Panel seem to work correctly.

Another workstation that got a clean Initial installation of Solaris 10 does not get this error when selecting Gnome Panel Properties.

Any hints on where to start troubleshooting this problem?
