rdistd for solaris 10

im executing rdist from a remote trusted hoste but i get the following error:

LOCAL ERROR: Unexpected input from server: "sh: rdistd: not found".

rsh from remote host works:

$rsh qa9-sun date

Tue Feb 15 18:19:43 PST 2005

my other Solaris 9 systems do have rdistd installed in the following path: /usr/bin/rdistd

Any help would greatly be apreciated.

I was able to resolve this by simply copying rdistd utility from another Solaris 9 system. rdist works fine now.

This is kind of a Mickey Mouse work-around for production machines. What is the reason for rdistd not being included with Sol 10?

Now to offer something constructive....openpkg is a very useful utility that can provide rdistd for sol 10.check out openpkg.org You need to build and install openpkg then other packages for rdist.
