Solaris 10 and my Broadband "modem" drivers

Hi,

I am seriously considering using Solaris 10 for my Java dev. My only concern is about the driver base that ships with it. I am not sure my Broadband company offers any support other than for MS XP platform (probably mates of Gates!) so I need to know if my broadband will work without a huge amount of hacking around. Any ideas ?

Thanks

Why not use a broadband router ? It offers NAT, basic firewall, no need to worry about dial-in scripts and you can attach more than one system.Michael

I have have a cheap $50 Linksys router attached to my cable broadband modem. It does all the necessary attach conversion and acts like a rudimetary firewall. It works great. My development systems are behind it. The router acts as a DHCP server.

I have Solaris 10 GA installed on a Dell barebones box for testing. So far so good.

Yes everytime I have a problem the cable company screams at me and says they only support windows with IE -- so I attach the win-duhs box to the modem before I call -- then they fix the cable and I reattach the router and my network.
