Webmin?

The first thing I usually do after setting up a Solaris system is install Webmin. I noticed that /etc/webmin already exists on Solaris 10 and that it has a bunch of files in it but I couldn't fine the config file or "start"/"stop" ...how do I control webmin in Sol 10?Thanks!

don't forget to do asvcadm -v enable /application/management/webmin:defaultin case you have to reboot for some reasonsvcs -a shows you what been initiated by defaultavatar

No, use /usr/sfw/bin/webminsetup instead. And if /usr/sfw/man is in your MANPATH (or used to the -M option), then you can man webmin or man webminsetup

On solaris 10 webmin is rev. 1.70 and the last one for solaris is 1.80 (I think)

I remove the package on solaris 10 and install the new one with pkgadd -d package

but I don't know how to put the script in /etc/rc2.d and be viewed by the svcs -a commande, like for the previous package shiped whith solaris 10

thanks

If you uninstall the Sun package, you will loose the opportunity to have this as an SMF service (the Sun package contains the necessary manifest and various interesting details for running as an SMF service). And you will also loose PAM and SSL support (the bundled version comes up by default in SSL mode) as relevant PAM and SSL modules are also included with this package.

I do, however, understand that SUNWwebmin updates will soon be available on BigAdmin (www.sun.com/bigadmin). The 1.210 version will even be able to manage Solaris Zones.

We are using webmin 1.130 and 1.121 versions.

I am trying to upgrade J2SE to 1.3.1_18 which is daylight savings time 2007 compatible version.

I would like to the above mentioned webmin versions are compatible with 1.1.3_18 J2SE version.

right now we have J2SE 1.2.1_08 and 1.2.2_08 versions on Solaris 8.

Thanks.
