dtlogin invalis hostname

the CDE dtlogin screen does not show correct hostnamedisplays DVD when I ned the hostname to be displayed as DVD.1

Dots in hostnames will tend to

be interpreted as domain-separators

(eg, dvd.sun.com) by many library

routines, so you'll need to be in

the NIS/DNS/LDAP domain '1' for your

preferred name to work. Even then

the hostname will be 'DVD' in the

domain '1'.

How about using DVD_1?
