No idea, other than lowering output volume in sdtaudiocontrol,
and increasing it on external set of speakers (assuming the
external speakers have a volume control).
What kind of audio application are you trying to use?
Does audioplay /usr/demo/SOUND/sounds/sample.au
play correct?
Make sure you are using the appropriate output from the U60's audio output module.

If you are using the headphone output to connect to a pair of amplified speakers, you are over driving them, and you will eventually fry them.
Is there a way to save the sdtaudiocontrol settings so that they come up that way every time?
I get tired of turning off the internal speaker and turning on the external output after I logout or reboot.
I've been using Solaris 9 and Gnome 2.0 and will shortly finish upgrading the workstation to Solaris 10 SJD. I have no reason to expect that the new S10 with SJD will behave differently than the older version.
