disk device naming (c#t#d#s#)

Hi,

I'm finding OS-handles for disk-devices as c#tWWNd#s#. (inside /dev/rdsk)

Earlier I have found these always to be c#t#d#s# where # is always integer.

why is this so ? I could not find any documentation. Can the # for "c" and "d" fields can also be strings rather than integers. ?

Pls let me know if you have some documentation on this.

Thanks

Harish

Quick answer No, you should checkout the guide on Solaris device naming to get a good understanding on how this works. C= Controller T= Target D= DeviceS=Slice
