Mouse Not working on Ultrasparc 5

Hi all,

I have a Sun Type 6 PS/2 keboard connected to my Ultra 5 running Solaris 8. The mouse is connected to the keyboard (Sun Mouse).

One of the support guys was messing around in the lab with keyboards, monitors etc and now the mouse will not work.

He disconnected the Monitor and keyboard from the Ultra 5 and the system went to the ok prompt. I got the system back up and it boots fine (says keyboard present) but the mouse will not work.

I reset the NVRAM settings using STOP A from the keyboard but that does not work either.

Any suggestions welcome.

Regards

Tom

I wouldn't suspect the NVRAM settings - STOP-N is used to reset them - you can change your input device but there isn't a mouse-specific setting. The eeprom command will show you the current values.Do you have another Sun mouse or keyboard you can try?

I should have said that I have tried another type 6 keyboard and mouse, the keyboaes will work but the mouse will not.

I suspect that some setting have been corrupt

The NVRAM settings look fine (to me).

If an entirely different keyboard and mouse exhibits the same issue I would suspect the keyboard connector on the motherboard. Pin #4 on the DIN-8 (the one right in the middle) is for receiving mouse data.

Maybe the next "swap" test would be to prove that the keyboard / mouse works on another system if you haven't already.

Thanks for your help, it sorted the problem.Pin #4 on the DIN-8 was pushed into the connector on both keyboard connectors.I managed to grip it with a small nose pliars and hey presto the mouse is working now!.Thanks again for your help

Try to keep that "support" guy away from your mice!
