P/N 501-5500 processors in an Ultra 2?

I bought a pair of Sun 400 Mhz CPU P/N 501-5500 Celestica 4MB L2 Cache processors which I was lead to believe would be suitable for an Ultra 2, which I have now found may not to be the case.

These processors do not fit into slot 0, however they will fit into slot 1, the machine identifies the processor correctly but stop at the beginning of initializing memory.

Am I wasting my time in trying to get one of these processors to work in an Ultra 2? Secondly could the processors have been test in an Ultra 2 as I was lead to believe?

Thanks

Paul

That CPU was an option for the Ultra AXmp ( telco version of the E450 boards ). The only 400MHz versions of UltraSPARC II supported in an Ultra 2 are 501-5541 and 501-5445. You supplier sold you incorrect parts for your system.

Not sure I'm an enlightened one, but the Sun Sytem Handbook lists that option as being supported by the Ultra AXmp only! Send the part back to you supplier an ask for a refund or the correct part ( X1193A )!
