Sparc IIe & IIi

I have on many sites found the information that the SUN Blade 100 equiped with a 500MHz IIe can be upgraded with a 650MHz IIi processor.

I know the moterboard in the Blade 100 can be strapped for 650MHz, and I know that the IIe & IIi is pin and package comaptible.

I understand that this is unsupported by SUN and violates the contracts.

But.. Have sombody here tested this or have more information about if it is possible?

Ok, I have tested it now.

The Sparc IIi+ does fit in the Blade 100 mobo, and works without modifications, and no different jumpersettings.

Now my Blade 100 runs in 650MHz 512Kb cach. But reports the CPU as a 650MHz Sparc IIe with 512kb cach.

The new processor makes about overall 50-70% performance increase compared to the old 500MHz IIe.
