Ultra 60, Remove Front & right sidepanel
Hi,
Couldn't find any topic about this in the Handbook, or search, so this question is unique.
:-)
I finally have got an Ultra 60, but 'll have to replace the DVD drive.
Seen from the front, the left side panel is opened quite easily.
But the DVD drive is fixed with some screws on the other side also, so I 'll have to remove the right side panel too.
Since I'm afraid of damaging this beauty by some clumsy moves, I kindly ask your advice on how to remove this panel.
BTW: is it possible to remove the front panel too?
Though this prob is not in the league of classical mindbreakers or even rocket science, I sure hope you 'll give me some clues.
Thanks in advance, Kuba

You mentioned that you glanced through the SSH.
The Ultra-60 has a decent resource page there.
Didn't you see the link to Related Documentation ?
Did you download the 7.6mb PDF of the Service Manual ?
Chapter 9, entitled Storage Devices, discusses removing the front panel
(it just snaps off, as pictured in the chapter of the PDF)
and also mentions how to remove the entire Removable Media Assembly bay that holds the optical drive.
