Solaris 8 on Dell 2650 PERC 3 RAID Installation
The Dell Poweredge 2650 is listed as supported on the Solaris 8/X86 2/02 HCL along with its PERC raid controller. I've downloaded the RAID and ethernet driver diskettes mentioned, but the RAID driver does not appear to attach to the controller. I did try adjusting the PCI IDs in the driver disk, and now I can get to to list the RAID controller in the Devices list, but it bombs out later when it get to the installation part.
My question is where I get an updated driver and/or instructions that actually work with this system - someone must have one to have certified the system in the first place. Dell doesn't seem to know anything about Solaris.

I have two of these machines and installed Solaris 10 on one of them yesterday. Solaris 10 includes a driver for the RAID controller, but I haven't gotten the ethernet card to work yet.
I do need to get Solaris 8 working on at least one of these machines as we're a software developer and we need to be able to compile and test software under Solaris 8.
Does anyone know what is actually done to certify systems for Solaris? Does anyone actually bother to install Solaris on them? I've found a lot of posts from people who have tried to do the install and no posts from anyone as to how one does it successfully on these machines. Anyone from Sun care to share the magic incantations required to make this work?
