Solaris 7 to Solaris 9 Upgrade
I am going to be upgrading from Solaris 7 to Solaris 9 within the next week or so on Sun 420. I have Veritas Volume manager installed. I would like to use Webstart to do the upgrade. Are there any particular "gotchas" I should look out for prior/during the upgrade? I am hoping this is going to be fairly straight forward. I will be doing two separate sets of backups (ufsdump to tape and rsync to a linux box).
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

If your boot disk is encapsulated make sure there have been no filesystems built/added on top of the encapsulation. If so, when you unencap to upgrade that data will be lost. Make sure to copy that data off somewhere to preserve it. Other than that if it's just a plain old upgrade should be relatively smooth.

indian123,
I cannot help you with the upgrade for whatever system you might actually have,
other than to suggest you place the Solaris 9 CD into the drive and boot from it.
It cannot be a Sun Fire V440 system, because ithat platform cannot run on Solaris 7.

The July '03 Release of Solaris 8 is the oldest build of Solaris compatible with the V440.
