I've problem regarding of Sun Fire V880. This server I used as Sunray server. Last week this server hang (frequently happened) and I try to reboot but the problem is this server cannot be boot up easily. I try to turn off and turn on again many times and keep waiting about 30 minutes for server to boot up. Why this problem occured and how can I solve it. I've look at log and printdiag before but there is not stated of hardware failure.

Have you tried to attach a VT100 to the serial port of the V880. The reason why I ask is that you really need to find the reason for the hang and not just power cycle the box. The output from the power cycle can help you to determine what happened and it should also give you an indication as to why it is taking so long to power up. I suspect that the diag-level is at max, but still is a long time unless you have mass ammounts of memory installed. This is also a good idea so that you can determine whether the system has really hung in the OS stage or whether it has crashed.

Here are a couple of pages that might be useful to you:

http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/SunFire880/SunFire880.html

There is also a product called CTEact which I can't seem to find in the public domain just now, which can help when diagnosing problems as it will analyse any available crash dump files and give information which can help to let you know what may be causing problems when the system hung. Will try and look later, or maybe some nice member of the forum will have the answer for you.

The file system won't mount if the FS is marked dirty. Marking "no" for fsck aint a good idea!CHeerz,Rama===.
