repartitioning a live system disk

I have a system disk with 6 partitions; root, swap, usr, export, blah1, blah2 and want to resize some of the partitions. Can I repartition export, blah1 and blah2 on the fly if I'm not bothered about losing data on these areas? Obviously I must keep the total sizes within the original disk backup slice. Will the 'label' option after partitioning affect the rest of the disk? I realise I can't touch root and usr. My initial guess is to say it is possible.

Yes you can do it .. but you would still have to be in single user mode.
