Power Management Solaris 9 SPARCstation 5

Hi there,

I have an old SS5 running Solaris 9 & it runs like a mofo. Simple excellent, with just one flaw. One reason or another I can't seem to _disable_ the power management. After 30 minutes of idleness, it suspends to OpenBoot & every possible interaction except for serial console goes dormant.

I have:

- Deinstalled 'Suspend/Resume CPR'

- Deinstalled 'Power Management User'

- Deinstalled 'Power Management Root'

- Removed every startup script of config file for PM

- touch-ed the /etc/noautoshutdown file

- Rebooted a zillion times

- Added a cron task writing the date/time to a temp file every 5 mins

Now the cron keeps running, but SSH, Apache, MySQL and all other 'listening' daemons are completely non-responsive. As soon as I connect through the serial console & hit 'enter' I get the 'ok' prompt from OpenBoot. After typing 'go' Solaris resumes & everything is OK.

I hope someone can help me out. I tried every known trick in the book & read about all the Solaris docs for it..

Thanks! Chris Schuit (chris.schuit<at>euronet.nl)
