only 8G visible on 18G disk?

Just installed a new IDE boot disk to replace original failed disk.

New disk should be about 18G, but only 8G are visible. I know

there is a 8G barrier problem under DOS, but this is Solaris on

Sun hardware. Any ideas as to what is going on?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried this with a newer OS than 2.6? I seem to remember some limitations with this in older Solaris versions and IDE drives. Solaris 8 should fix this problem tho.

We need to use Solaris 2.6 as this is a build machine and this is the earliest version of the OS that we need to support. However, perhaps I could improve my situation by installing from the most recent media, as opposed to a vintage 2000 cdrom. But to avoid reinstalling yet again (the system is already supporting live loads) I have installed the latest patch cluster and am thinking about trying to redefine the CHS geometry. Does anyone have any hints or howtos for this? Thanks again.
