Configuring FTP

I have a Netra X1 running Solaris 8. When I try to FTP to this server from any other unix server I receive the message "login failed" after I put in the password. When I FTP from a windows server, I'm able to log in without any problems. Could this have to do with active and passive mode? Has anyone seen this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Hi,If you are using the default ftp server which comes up with Solaris 8 , you could check if you have a /etc/shells file which has all the shells used listed one per line . RgdsPK
