IP address conflict
Found this in our /var/adm/messages file this morning
Sep 28 12:06:23 gandalf last message repeated 68 times
Sep 28 12:07:08 gandalf ip: [ID 903730 kern.warning] WARNING: IP: Hardware address '*0:06:5b:48:*3:**' trying to be our address 15*.1*5.*79.031!
And no one could login because this ip address is our LDAP server. Turns out it was a new dell computer we had added to the network this morning. However, running ifconfig/all in the dos prompt brought up all the right configuration i.e it had its own ip address listed correctly and the server address listed correctly. Its not the first time it has happened. The last time it was an HP printer that got ideas above its station.
Anybody heard of this happening before and how to solve it other than removing the offending device from the network ?

Hi ,
I have been getting the following warning message in /var/adm/messages file :
Nov 7 12:53:05 mhwks1 ip: [ID 903730 kern.warning] WARNING: IP: Hardware address '00:03:ba:1d:89:87' trying to be our address 010.000.000.193!
Nov 7 12:53:05 mhwks1 last message repeated 2 times
But 00:03:ba:1d:89:87 is the MAC address of 10.0.0.193 only.
Moreover this message is not continuous . Interestingly it comes at 53 minutes of any random hour eg 10:53 , 01:53, 11:53, 23:53 .
I am not able to understand that why this message is coming in the first place and that too at 53 minutes only.
Can anyone please help me out.
