Sun/Sony GDM-5010PT Monitor problems
Can someone help? My GDM5010PT blinks to a yellow tint after warming up for a few minutes. However, it will correct itself and stay stable unless I type or use the mouse. If I continously use the mouse or type, the monitor will intermitantely switch back and forth from yellow tint to perfect image. I am thinking of repairing it myself if I can get the service manual and a clue as to what needs replacing.
I am inexperienced, however, I replaced an amplifier in my rear-projection tv convergence-board. Maybe, I'll have luck with this also. I love this monitor.
Thank you for your help
Fred

There is a central image processor on the deflection board wich needs to be replaced. It's a very common problem with those screens. Although you need good soldering skills and a desoldering device to get it off without damaging the chip. Hope this helps.
IC: CXA2043Q that should be replaced.

In the old days when I used to get inside TVs I had always heard that the picture tube stored a pretty nasty voltage after the power is disconnected. They would recommend that you short the HV clip to ground after you unplug everything and before you start poking around.
Bottom line: be very careful in there if you haven't done this sort of thing before.

The problem is common with this type of monitor but it's indeed dangerous if your not experienced.
Modern monitors like this one hold around 26Kv in the tube. i suggest if you want it repaired then go to a qualified service personel.
