Sun V480 with StorEdge A3500/A3500FC (raid)
Hi All
I've this sun v480 with Solaris 8. Connected to it is a StorEdge A3500/3500FC.
I think I only see one disk of this raid system, so can someone give me suggestion how to mount this think and/or where to look for information ?
Thanks a lot in advance
Luca

Hi,
StorEdge A3500 are hardware-based raid array. You manage the array (add/delete LUN) using a software called 'Raid Manager'. Current version at 6.22.1.
If under format, you can see the disk, you can however use native Solaris disk slices to partition it or use SVM software to do it.

Do I see only 1 disk in this raid system ?
I don't know anything about LUNS, so your help is very useful!!!
Thanks

You are seeing the RAID controller at c3t5. It is seeing two LUNS, c3t5d0 & c3t5d1. Each LUN can consist of multiple disk drives. As SLIM mentioned, you need RAID Manager (RM6) to manage which disks are associated with which LUNS. You are OK from a hardware aspect. Now you need to use software (RM6) to proceed further.

This system was an operational system before. The only thing I did was that I've installed a new OS.
I've download the raidmanager 6.22.1 and all the documentation, its a lot. So far I've upgraded some firmware succesfully.
It wil take me some time to read an try it out. I'll be back later!!
Cheers
