t3 FRU power-down workaround?
is there a way to not have a t3 power down when a FRU is missing, e.g. for instance when pulling a drive permantanly because it cause a loop failure? i know the 'proper' thing to do is have another drive in place, but since i don't have one on hand, the box wants to power down.
i understand the idea behind the PSU's - as it could affect system cooling if the FRU was removed. But other components shouln't cause the same protective measures , e.g. loop card, single drive.
i've tried doing 'disable u1d7', but it won't take the drive offline.
thanks,
j

To the best of my knowledge the same situation with the PSU's that you mentioned applies to the disks as well. Also the unit requires all of the drives in place to function correctly, it is probably turning itself off to protect your data.
I would replace the faulty drive and at the same time look to upgrade the firmware on the unit and the disk drives as this will also help to protect the drives from faulure.

Try running the command:
vol disable u1d7
When you remove the disk for replacement you only have about 30-40 minutes to put the new one in, can't remember.
Really think about applying the patches Stuart mentioned and doing a health chech on your T3.
