Quick answer? No, you cannot connect such a monitor to the computer. All video cards were extra options, were specific to the board design of that generation computer, and were predominantly for Sun-shaped monitor cables, not the DB15 VGA shape.

Complicated answer? There may be a way to eventually getting a PC monitor to work, but your frustration level will be high.

Glance at this recent thread:

Next, I expect the regular forum contributors to jump in here with a number of questions.

Such as...Will this be at work or at home.

It consumes at least a kilowatt per hour and will generate approx 3000BTU per hour of heat as it runs at a loud noise level.

We may need to learn your comfort level with Solaris and with Sun hardware, in general.

Now I'll let others jump in here.

The simple answer here is use another machine with the 19" LCD ( PC/ Workstation ) and attach that to serial port A on the E3000. Installation of Solaris through a terminal is identical to a machine with a monitor attached, the main difference is that you don't use F2 and your mouse, on the terminal you'll use Esc-2, TAB and arraow keys. Once you have Solaris installed you can configure the server to allow you to launch X applications from a client machine ( only available on UNIX, Linux or Solaris clients ). Of course if that doesn't appeal to you please contact your supplier and ask them to send you the configuration of the machine, I/O, clock and CPU board part numbers. Post these numbers here and we'll advise on a graphics card and VGA adapter that may do the job.
