Ultra 10 keyboard port

Hello,

When I connect keyboard in ultra 10, it works a key yes and other no. More or less sequentially. After then keyboard is broken.

It has happened to me in the same machine with several keyboards.

Any ask?

Thank you.

You are shutting down the box before connecting the keyboard as it wont work if its up and you plug in the keyboard. And its HAS to be a sun keyboard as PC kjeyboards have different ROM for the comms layout etc.

PC keyboards (PS/2) don't even have the same pinouts on their plug. The use of a PC keyboard will physically damage the Sun keyboard port that is integrated to the computer's systemboard.

That being said, any Sun5, Sun5c, or Sun6 mini-DIN keyboard would be compatible with Ultrs-5/Ultra-10 systems.

And make sure you have keyboard connected to proper connector, near the Audio connectors, on the U10. The connector on the Graphics card is NOT a keyboard connector.

I wasn't going to ask about the keyboard port... but it is an U10... are you using the on board frame buffer? are you (please say no) using the "keyboard" port next to the 13W3 frame buffer port? haroldkarl
