Multi-volume ufsrestore is spanning 2 days

I am trying to get some data off of some tapes that span two volumes. I put in the 2nd tape and it says wrong dump date and proceeds not to read it. The volumes seem to cross the day boundary. First volume starts at 10pm next one is 12:45am the next day. Does anyone know of a way to get ufsrestore to ignore the dump date or something?

Cheers,

Rick Erlandson

Check the /etc/dumpdates file.

Perhaps that is it. The server I connected the external tape drive to is not the same unit that made the dumps. There are entries in the dumpdates file, but none are the correct date according to the date ufsrestore is asking for. Can I edit the file and add my own lines with the correct dumpdate and such? I know what slice I want and the dump level it was (0).

Does ufsrestore even read this file? or is it just for admin information and such. ufsrestore never complains about the date on the 1st volume (which is not in dumpdates file). Reads it just fine. Unfortunately the files I want are on the second volume which is always dated ~3 hrs later.. (and after midnight).

Rickeroo,

I'm experiencing this exact same problem (the second volume is dated on a different day than the first and I get the 'Wrong dump date' error using ufsrestore).

Did you find a solution?

Thanks,

Chuck

I don't think the dumpdates file matter. Why don't you try removing the file then do an interactive restore? # mv /etc/dumpdates /etc/_dumpdates # ufsrestore -i .......
