T3 Lost password

Well, I am sure you have been in there. The admin left a nobody seems to know the root password for the T3.Can it be recovered WITHOUT loosing ANY data ?

Yes. The information should be in the T3 Troubleshooting guide. If not you may have to contact your service rep.

I am looking at the HW doc on sun's site. I don't see that document. Can anyone provide me with a URL ?TIA!

The answer is simple. Hooke up a terminal (PC, terminal server, WYSE, etc.) to the serial port. Stop all I/O to it. Reboot server and hist enter type "set passwd"

The present password will be displayed, type reset.

One the T3 in back up line type

login: root

passwd: <old_pass>

set passwd <new_passwd>

that is it ?

Didn't know T3 com port pin out so didn't get console message . HOW-TO-DO please .

You need special cable for T3 console.Get it from SUN FE.
