adding A5200 to a E450
I am rebuilding an old E450 as a DR standby, and I am having trouble getting the server to see an A5200.
Server is running solaris 9
patch rev Generic_117171-07
OBP 3.22.0 2000/12/20 16:31
POST 6.1.0 2000/12/20 16:32
the server has 12 disks in it.
I have the fcal's in slot 5 & 6
did a boot -r
luxadm insertfinds nothing.
do I need to add a package for this?
I thought Solaris 9 had all this bundled in.
thanks

older large plug stuff..
works on, these are fiber channel cards made by qlogic isp2200A on the chip
these are the same cards on a V1280 that works right.
pci33 PCI0 SUNW,qlc-pci1077,2200 (scsi-+
okay /ssm@0,0/pci@18,700000/SUNW,qlc@1
pci33 PCI1 SUNW,qlc-pci1077,2200 (scsi-+
okay /ssm@0,0/pci@18,700000/SUNW,qlc@2

Make sure the system has the latest patches for luxadm and friends. Also, try running "devfsadm -C" on the system that can't see the devices.
Note: This will clean up any links for devices that may no longer be attached to the system. If you have, for example, tape devices that aren't powered on they'll get nuked.
(Yes, "nuked" is a technical term.)

cfgadm does not show the cards are even in the machine. I looked at the back of the A5200 and I have one green light and one amber on the Gbic I am thinking that the cards are not hot.
I am going to try a new slot and bounce the fiber array
Thanks
Tim

ok I have moved the cards to new slots,

systemSUNWvoluxVolume Management (Usr) (64-bit)
the driver packages exsist on the machine
do I need to add the cards with cfgadm?
the Gbic's still has one green and one amber light.
Do I need to load the san pack or something?

I'm still not sure which cards you're using but, if you're using add-in HBAs on the E450, then make sure you have the Qlogic drive packages loaded as well as the latest SAN patches and packages.

when I rebuilt this machine I did enterprise all, and it did not load the qlogic fc drives to the root disk.I loaded them from disk 1of2 and magic it is all good.thanks for your helpTimI thought enterprise all had all the drivers. *sigh*even if not used.
