How I configure 3510 via terminal?

Hi,

I see a terminal port on the back of my 3510.

I assume I may use a terminal emulator to configure the array.

What kind of cable and communication parameters do I need?

I spent 15 minutes on google looking for the answer.

Also I connected to the port via a straight through cable to my laptop

and tried a variety of communication settings.

The 3510 would not talk to me.

I assume this is covered on the web or in the docs somewhere

but I couldnt find it.

Sorry for posting such a simple question.

Search on doc.sun.com for 3510 and you'll find the manuals.

Here's the install guide:

http://docs-pdf.sun.com/816-7300-16/816-7300-16.pdf

Which says:

4.7 Configuring a COM Port to Connect to a

RAID Array

The RS-232 COM port on either controller module is used to configure and monitor

the RAID array. It can be connected to a VT100 terminal or terminal emulation

program, to a terminal server, or to the serial port of a server.

1. Use a null modem serial cable to connect the COM port of the RAID array to the

serial port on a host workstation.

A null modem serial cable is included in your package contents.

2. Set the serial port parameters on the workstation as follows:

 38,400 baud

 8 bit

 1 stop bit

 No parity

For platform-specific details, see the appendix that describes the operating system

your server uses.
