trouble getting an E220R to recognize a StorEdge D2

Hi,

I have a StorEdge D2 filled with 12 36 gig drives, attched to the onboard external SCSI port on the back of an E220R.

However, I cant get the system to recognize the drive tray. If I do a probe-scsi-all from the ok prompt, I get this:

/pci@1f,4000/scsi@3,1

Fatal SCSI errorat script address 10 Unexpected disconnect

that error repeats itself 30 times, the probe-scsi-all probes the next scsi device and finds the internal scsi hard drive and cdrom drive.

I tried doing a reset-all, and got the same results.

any ideas what might be causing this?

The D2 supports LVD SCSI. The onboard E220R is single-ended SCSI. While LVD is supposed to

be backwards-compatible with single-ended, you may find cases where this doesn't work well.

In particular, single-ended is very picky about cable lengths. I think you will find that Sun only

supports the D2 for certain LVD cards.
