UPS for sun T3 array

Hi All,I was thinking does the sun T3 array really require any external UPS protection? From the specification, inside the PCU there exists an UPS battery.Upon power failure, the internal battery will last long enough to flushout the cache data. an i right?

Yup - unlike traditional, old-school hardware arrays, the StorEdge T3, T3+ and 6120 arrays have a battery backup to keep the physical disks spinning long enough to destage the dirty cache.

The big advantage of this method of data integrity is that when your array regains power, what you have on disk is exactly what the app has been told has been written to disk.

Traditional hardware RAID devices backup the cache and have a limited life so power MUST be returned before the battery dies or the dirty cache data is lost.
