X6730A with Sun A5000 on Ultra 2

anyonre know how to fix the problems with Sun FC-100 (X6730A). here is the problem

I ran Solaris 9 on Sun Ultra 2 with that FC-100 install and connect to A5000. I had all the lastest firmware and patch for it, I was able to put the OS on the array and boot off of that. however when I load either Veritas volume manager or Sun Disk suit on it and config it as raid, it will not work each time I put a heavy load on the I/O ,but if I just take a single disk and doing it, it will be fine. I had load JNI FC64-1063 and test out the Solaris Disk Suite (can't do wth Veritas since this darn JNI can't see the array) it also work fine. thie tell me something is not right with that Sun FC-100 fibre card... any one know what that problems could be?

I think the reason for the problems you are having is

that this card, tempting as it is to use on a wonderful

machine like the Ultra 2, is not compatible with the Ultra 2.

I have read this on websites, and read about similar

problems to yours on the newsgroups:

http://groups.google.ca/groups?q=%22Ultra+2%22+X6730A&hl=en&lr=&saf e=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official_s&selm=354F3FA B.8E99272F%40mdata.de&rnum=11

I am looking for an SBUS fibre-channel card myself for

my Ultra 2.

However... a company named JNI did make copper

based fiber-channel and with an adapter, it might

be possible to use it with an A500 type optical

interface. I think you would need an electro-optical

converter for it.

Let me know if you need more info:

Do you see any error messages when this happens? Have you run a StorADE test on the loop connected to the A5000 to check for errors?
