A5100
I'm currently trying to connect a E4000 server to a Storedge A5100. I've connected them using a fiber connection but nothing happens. I'm using Solaris 8 on the server.
i have two places where i can plug in fiber. one that is on a daughterboard and the other integrated into the blade. which one should i use? i've played around with the luxadm command but it seems like the e4000 just can't see the storedge or even that it is plugged in. When i use the luxadm fcal, it replies back with Found Path to 0 FC100/S Cards.
I'm relatively new to solaris so thanks for the help in advance.

If you installed Solaris 8 before attaching the photon then you have to make sure that certain packages are loaded, which are not by default even on an entire distribution installation. In /var/sadm/pkg you have to see if you have SUNWluxdx and SUNWluxlx, these are the 64 bit drivers. You can see if you are running 64 bit by issuing the isainfo command, should come out as sparcv9.
The drivers for the FC100/s cards are;
SUNWifp
SUNWifpx
You will also need
SUNWssad
SUNWssadx
SUNWssaop
SUNWluxop
SUNWluxox
SUNWses
SUNWsesx
IT is a bit of a pain but the system should be patched up too. A quick check to see if this is the case for your os is to grep the messages for your last reboot and look for "64-bit driver module not found".
A normal devfsadm -Cv after the driver installs and a grep for either ifp or ssd on /etc/path_to_inst should indicate this has happened ok. You should not need to reboot to see the photon, but may need to do a luxadm insert. also, you luxadm fcal (or qlgc) should now show the device you need and want.
Hope this helps

Hello,
I have the same trouble: ifp: 64-bit driver module not found
My solaris box is an sunfire 280R Server with solaris 9.
My box has installed all drivers as bmacdo say but the error message persist. I will find more information about that.
