What is SunStoreEdge Availabilty suite3.1

Hi ,

I have SunStoreEdge Availabilty suite3.1

What is the difference b/w SunStoreEdge Availabilty suite3.1 & SunStoreEdge Volume Manager.

Can I use SunStoreEdge Availabilty suite3.1 to create volumes?

Hi,

to what I'm concerned SunStoreEdge Availabilty suite3.1includespoint-in-time copy and remote mirroring capabilities.

This software does not cover dealing with volumes, just the matter of replicating/Mirroing them.

If you want to deal creating and managing Volumes you have to use (Solaris or Veritas) Volume Manager

instead. (Solaris Volume Manager Included in Solaris Release 9).

Sun StorEdge Volume Manager 2.6 is Sun's version of Veritas Volume Manager. The minimum rev for Solaris 8 is 3.0.4 so you cannot use 2.6 with Solaris 8. You might want to consider DiskSuite which is located on Solaris 8 CD 2 of 2 in the EA directory or get a current version of Veritas Volume Manager from Veritas. I believe Veritas 3.5 is the latest version of Volume Manager.
