StorEdge 3500FC

Hi all,

I have a question regarding StorEdge 3500FC raid module and I/O (JBOD) module.

I could understand that JBOD I/O expansion unit can be attached with Raid Array.

How about JBOD I/O expansion itself?

Is it possible to attach this JBOD/IO expansion unit into Unix machine without Raid controller as like

A5200 or T3 array via Fiber Optic interface?

Any feed back would be great appreciate for me.

Thank you.

the short answer is yes

the long answer is that there's a procedure that has to be run to configure the 3500 JBOD, if that procedure isn't run, you simply won't see it at all.

download this and follow the procedure as documented in the package

I have 4 x Storedge 3310 RAID units and 1 x V20z host. I want to basically convert 2 of the 3310 RAID unit to act like the JBOD, is there a way to do this?

The reason i want to do this is because the host only have 2 channel, and I want to be able use the data on all four of the units, essentially I want to make pass-through or daisy-chain through the 3310 so that the host can see all the units.

thanks,
