Storedge L9

Hello all,

Newbie sysadmin question here. I am attempting to attach a Storedge L9 to a netra that was just build with Solaris 8. My problem is that when i attach it the library (via scsi cable) the netra becomes unable to see its disks (and attempts to boot from the network if i reboot the server). Attempted to use tools such as probe-scsi and boot -r but they have not helped. If someone could at least point me in the right direction, i would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Henry

Hello,

the StorEdge L9 requires an HVD (high voltage differential) SCSI controller. It will definetly NOT work when attached to the external SE (single ended) SCSI port of the Netra and can even damage the systems internal controller !!!

Have a look at the hardware specification in the Sun System Handbook

http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/L9/spec.html

While the page lists three possible drive types (DLT, DLT 8000 and LTO), I have only seen/used the L9 with DLT 8000.
