A1000 and Veritas Possible?
Currently, we have an E420 with several D1000 (JBOD) arrays configured with Volume Manager.
We want to attach an A1000 array to the same server.
Is it possible to use Volume Manager with the A1000, and if yes what are the steps needed to accomplish this task?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Yes you can use the A1000 with the D1000's but you will need to use Raid Manager to configure a LUN or LUN's before you have a virtual disk that you can access.
The steps involved in using the RM package I can't really remember but pull off a user guide from docs.sun.com and it should all be self explainatory.
Have fun.

Hi,
yes you can without problem to use volume manager on A1000, doing the following :
1/ when you buy you A1000, you have also the product rm6 to manage your disks into the A1000. it permits to make from severals physicals disks into the A1000 an device which is raid 0, 1 or 5.
so, first, install rm6 (follow the doc, so simple).
2/ connect your A1000 physically to your machine and make it to be recognize by a boot -r.
3/ at this point, positionning your display and launching rm6 in backgound mode you will see your A1000
and all the physical disks there are into. so now you can make your raid.
3/ install volume manager and manage the device created with it.
hope it will help you !

You could also, of course use Solaris Logical Volume Manager (SLVM), or disksuite 4.2.1's softpartitioning to manage the LUN that Raid Manager presents to Solaris.SLVM is VERY flexible now with its softpartitioning !!
