fp cannot bind to emulex lp8000 card

Hi,

I am trying to use an emulex lp8000 card in an E450 under solaris 10 Generic_118833-03 with the standard solaris fp/ssd drivers. prtdiag -v shows the emulex card. Yet I do not have an fp entry in /etc/path_to_inst nor does cfgadm -al show the card. This happens although I have rebooted with the -r switch and have run devfsadm. On an Ultra60 with solaris 10 update 1 kernelpatch 118833-25 I can see the card just fine.

Does anybody has an idea if I am missing some patches or other obvious things.

Thanks in advance,

mark

You need to install the emulex driver SUNWelx

thanks for that! I've installed the packages SUNWemlx and SUNWemlxu. The driver has been added to the system. After installing the driver pkgadd asked me to reboot the system to install the driver. Is there a way to load the driver while the system is online?mark

Reboot is the safest way as it will then look for devices underneath the card but you could try modloading the driver and see if it binds.

I know this is a necropost, but after reinstalling the SUNWemlxs and SUNWemlxu packages, were you able to see the LP8000 with the emlxs driver under Solaris 10? I'm running into the same issues, both with SFK 4.10 under solaris 8 and with S10u2

Are you sure Emulex supports the lp8K under the emxls driver?
