storedge 9985 virtualization and mpxio

We have a HDS Thunder 9500 which is not supported by mpxio since its not a fully symmetric array and MPXIO doesnt have the array specific support it would need.

Now I understand that the storedge 9985 (also known as an HDS ncs55) can "virtuallize" other arrays.

And I believe the HDS thunder 9500 is supported as an external array by the 9985.

My question is to what level does this virtualisation take place.

Do they become fully symmetric luns with the active/passive lun failover handled by the 9985.

So, if we put our thunder 9500 behind a storedge 9985. Does anyone know if the virtual luns representing the 9500 would then be supported by mpxio?

mpxio would see 9985 luns. The 9500 would be masked. So, yes, if you put the 9500 behind the 9985 mpxio would work. Actually, mpxio wouldn't even know.
