I have been asked how long after a hurricane( with conditions of 100% humidity and 90+ degree temps) would it be safe to turn the servers back on. Trying to see if anyone has experienced or come up with a plan for this type of situation before.

You should contact Sun, I think the division within Sun that may provide a disaster recovery plan is called Sun Services. Other than that, I could offer some information on some SOPs ( service operation protocol ) for data centrers that may be in the vicinity of post terrorist chemical or nuclear attack. My experience working with various US and multi nationals - an SOP would be developed within the organisation - aimed to protect against particular threats such as natural disaster, chemical/biological and nuclear disaster etc. US gov. also publish recommendations as far as I am aware.

<b>EDIT</b> bad grammar and spelling update.

Yes, Sun's Professional Services team would be the best people to assist you with such a task.

This is a perfect example of why they exist.

Such a request is customarily NOT a part of any service contract.

"Sun PS" is the section within Sun that performs consulting services.

Their services are done on a fee-per-job basis.

Contact your local Sun support center for guidance how to engage Professional Services, and you could also glance at this link from Sun's web site:

After reading Bill post and the second post I realise that I missed a question ( maybe ? ).

The Sun system handbook outlines environmental paramters for the V880;

<a href="http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_private/Systems/SunFire880_shared/spec.h tml#Environment" target="_blank"> http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_private/Systems/SunFire880_ shared/spec.html#Environment</a>

Perhaps this information will be helpful as well.
