How to configure SDLT 600 to server?

Hi,I'd like to connect an SDLT 600 tape drive to a V240 server. I don't really reboot the system for it. Is it possible? What can I do for it, which config file can help? Or I have to reboot, and for it a I have to make a reconfigure file into the root directory.Thanks.

Is there an add-in board to attach the drive installed ?
