Sata Controller

Hello,

I have an Enterprise 450 with 4 Sparc Processors.

I would like to remove my SCSI disks and install Sata disk.

For this, I need a SATA Controller wich is compatible with Sparc processors.

Can anyone tell me where I can find such a card ?

Thanks a lot

logistically, this really sounds like a pain in the ass...how are you going to power these drives? how many drives can run off one cable? are there backplanes that could be converted to fit the E450? have you looked for a sATA card that is compatible with SPARC computers?

this seems as easy as putting an E450 motherboard in a peecee chassis...

I suppose you want to make use of very cheap, very big sATA drives, instead of those extremely expensive, very reliabe scsi drives....

good luck,

There are no SATA parts that are compatable with the E450. The only way that you can attach SATA drives to the E450 is by using an external array. Sun offers a SE 3511 array that supports 12 SATA drives. The array controller is then attached to a FC HBA installed in one of the E450 PCI slots. There are other arrays that can be used as well eg. EMC AX100.
