JNI FCI-1063

Hello Experts!

We're in the process of trying to connect a newly-configured Ultra 80 (Sol 10-Jan 2006) - machine 'B' - to our ancient (pre-cambrian, in fact) SPARC Storage Array. We've installed a JNI FCI-1063 card.

The NVRAM monitor reports device:

/<a href="mailto:pci&#64;1f" target="_blank">pci@1f</a>,4000/<a href="mailto:fibre-channel&#64;5" target="_blank">fibre-channel@5</a>

The SSA is working just fine, connected to another SPARC via its B port.

Issues:

- How to turn on the 'A' port on SSA, to which our Ultra 80 is connected? The activity icon for port A is not lighted.

(note: It's not easy at the moment to disconnect machine 'A' to simply swap connectors - perhaps will try this in the wee hours...)

- Is there any reason to install the SSA Admin software on Machine 'B', when it's available on Machine 'A'?

Does anyone know where we can find the SSA Admin software (eg, command 'ssaadm') packaged up and downloadable?

Or would you refer us to other good Fibre / SAN management software? (As there are only two machines talking to the array, we probably wouldn't invest big bucks in shiny, fancy SAN software; rusty but serviceable is just fine!...)

Many thanks in advance...Lou

This post is pretty old so I'm not sure if you're still checking it but here's an answer.

Your SSA is 25Mb/s fiber. The JNI HBA that you are using is 100Mb/s fiber. They are not compatible.

The last 25Mb/s fiber card I know of for Sun machine was an SBus card from around the time of the SparcServer 1000 era.
