Reset IP address of T3 array?

Hi there,

I recently inherited some StorEdge T3s from another project and would like to reuse them. But unfortunately no one here has a record of what the IP addresses were set to, so I am unable to telnet to them to make the usual changes to the volumes.

Does anyone know of a way to either

a) determine what the IP addresses are currently set to, or

b) force a reset of the T3 firmware?

Any other suggestions welcome! Thanks in advance :)

I am sorry to say this but in this instance you are going to have to read the manuals.

You can reset the config by going through the serial port assuming that you know the root password for it. All the details are in the documents at the above link.

Hello Stuart,

I assume the next question is How to reset the password ? ....

How about determining the IP address with ARP ?

The Serial Number and MAC Address are located on the Pull-out Tab at the left side of the array next to the first disk drive.

Attaching to the serial port of the T3/T3+ requires a special cable with is unavailable outside Sun and iForce Partners.

Thanks for the responses, I managed to connect to the T3s at long last.

To summarise, I was unable to use the usual T3 cable, as this doesn't work on the T3+ arrays. I did try ARP, but as the T3s were on a private network originally, I didn't know what IP range to braodcast on to fill my ARP cache.

Eventually I managed to find a backup of the machine that used to manage the T3s, the IP addresses were listed in the hosts file. So a bit of a lucky escape...

Cheers,
