Battery replacement for A3500FC
Hi,
We have 2 E4500s hooked up to a A3500FC via a FC switch. The battery pack for the dual A3500FC controllers have failed with the amber faulted LED.
We've got some conflicting info about the method to replace the battery pack. Some mentioned that the battery can be replaced hot, others said we need to stop all activity to the controller module (implying system shutdown?) prior to the swap. We're not sure which is correct.
What's the role of the battery pack anyway? Besides protecting the cache data during a power outtage, is there anything else it does?
Any inputs is greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.

Vinh,
Your best resource for accurate answers would be from Sun's tech-support staff, directly. (this is just a user forum)
Just open a service case and they'll arrange for proper skilled service.
But...
Here's the array's link in the Sun System Handbook
<a href="http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/A3500FC/A3500FC.html" target="_blank"> http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/A3500FC/A3500FC .html</a>
That page has a reference to "Related Documentation" where you can retrieve the manuals in PDF format.

I haven't touched one of those arrays in over 5 years, so I'm very fuzzy on service procedures.
