Set up Cluster with D1000
Im trying to set up a cluster configuration only with two Ultra5. I don't know if it is mandatory to get storage array, or only to have a spare shared disk plus private disk is enough.
I am about to buy D1000 storage array but the seller just told me that it wont work with my scsi controller ISP1040B, I do not know what to do at the moment. Maybe I need one of these SCSI controllers (Sun X5010A, Sun X6540A, Sun X6541A) instead of ISP1040B.
Is it necessary to plug a RAID controller on an Ultra5 PCI slot in order to access to D1000?
Do I need one or two D1000 to set up a minimal Cluster?
Anyone knows where can I download Veritas Volume Manager 3.0, 3.1 and Sun Cluster 3.0, 3.1 for Sparc?
Thanks,
David

Michael may be able to help with the 3rd party SCSI controller, the Sun card supported with the D1000 is X6541A. You can configure the D1000 for a cluster, you must configure it as split backplane, you can do this by attaching each host to each controller on the D1000. There are configuration options in the D1000 system documentation on <a href="http://docs.sun.com/" target="_blank">http://docs.sun.com/</a>

Hello Martin,
the support forums are back, but javascript (e.g. Formatting Tools) still not working.

Michael is referring to an unexpected and unplanned forum outage.
<u><i><b><font color="red"><font face="Arial"> test of text formatting FUD code</font></font></b></i></u>
(which seems to also be fixed, if you code it manually)
We do not expect javascript to ever be active, again,
after the Spring 2005 forum color schema changes.

Yeah, at first I was a bit annoyed when I couldn't access the forum over the weekend, but my Enduro bike needs an engine rebuild, so I had lots of fun stripping the engine and pressing the crank apart for a new mains, big end and con-rod. It was a contrast stripping a two stroke engine as opposed to working on Sun machines!

TB, Sun Cluster is available through the download center if you have registered MySun account. Sun have made it part of Java Enterprise suite and you may download the JES CD image. The production use of this product is subject to a license purchase from Sun.
